What To Expect

Pre-Care
- Discontinue retinols, exfoliants, and topical antibiotics for 5–7 days before treatment.
- Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol the day before your appointment to prepare for the blood draw.
Post-Care
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications for one week following treatment.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for one week following treatment.
- Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily.
- Temporary redness, swelling, or pinpoint bruising may occur and generally resolves within 24-72 hours.
Microneedling FAQ
Microneedling is effective for all skin types, so anyone with wrinkles, acne scars, and large pores can benefit from this treatment. SkinPen microneedling should not be used for patients who have open wounds, sores, irritated skin, or skin cancers in the treated areas. It is also not appropriate for pregnant or nursing women.
There is minimal downtime with microneedling, so you can return to your daily routine right away. However, you may have a sunburn-like feeling on your skin for a few days after each treatment. Your provider will recommend appropriate skin care products—including a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen—to care for your skin following microneedling. The skin may feel dry and flaky for up to one week after treatment. This is a sign of increased cell turnover, and you should avoid scrubbing, peeling, or picking at affected areas.
Microneedling is a safe, FDA-cleared treatment that is gentle on the skin. Each microneedling treatment implements a single-use cartridge with the SkinPen device, ensuring no cross contamination between procedures.
Microneedling can provide amazing results on its own, but pairing your treatment with radiofrequency, Stem Cells, or PRP therapy can boost your results. Following a thorough skin care routine at home will also help you maintain softer, smoother skin. In addition, you may schedule regular facials or follow up microneedling treatments to continue pampering and rejuvenating the skin.
Most patients will need between 3 to 6 treatments for full results from microneedling, but you may see an improvement in the skin tone and texture after a single treatment session. Results will be visible for up to six months after your last treatment.
