Homeopathy was developed in Germany in the late 1700s. It is based on the principle of “like cures like.” That is, a substance that can cause symptoms in a healthy person can also be used to treat those same symptoms in a sick person. Homeopathy is a practice that uses tiny amounts of natural substances, like plants and minerals, to stimulate the healing process. Homeopathy is based on two theories:
- “Like cures like”— a substance that can cause symptoms in a healthy person can also be used to treat those same symptoms in a sick person.
- “Law of minimum dose”— the smaller the dose of medication, the greater its effectiveness. Most homeopathic products are highly diluted. No molecules of the original substance are present in the medicine.
Homeopathic medicine is available in the form of creams, gels, drops, emulsions, and tablets. Homeopathic practitioners offer personalized treatments after completely understanding the patient’s profile and gathering scientific evidence for the ailments. It is not uncommon for different people suffering from the same condition to receive different treatments. Homeopathic medicine uses a different diagnostic system for assigning treatments to individuals. It recognizes clinical patterns of signs and symptoms that are different from those of conventional medicine.
Homeopathic medicine is believed to be one of the safest and most effective treatments available. Through homeopathy, Dr. Judy at Vitality Wellness Clinic is able to stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal, known as the “vital force.”
What Is the Vital Force?
We are all born with an internal force and a natural ability to heal. This is known as our vital force. Homeopathy medicine focuses on helping the body heal from the inside out, using its vital force, by addressing the root cause of an illness.
Effectiveness of Homeopathy
Homeopathic medicine works with your body’s innate mechanisms to restore health by speeding up the natural process of healing.
Most illnesses are like an onion. Homeopathy medicine works by peeling away one layer at a time, going deeper and deeper, as it works to address the root cause of the imbalance. Because of this, homeopathy can treat a wide variety of conditions, from acute illnesses such as headaches to chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia.
Because there are no side effects from homeopathic remedies, it is the ideal choice for anyone who is looking for alternatives to medications with unwanted adverse side effects.
What conditions or ailments can be treated by homeopathy?
Homeopathy is highly effective and is used for a wide range of health issues, including some life-threatening diseases. A health care professional may recommend homeopathy for treating ailments like allergies, migraines, depression, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, and premenstrual syndrome.
Homeopathy medicines are also used for treating minor issues like bruises, toothaches, headaches, cold and cough, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.

What to Expect
Homeopathic remedies are made from naturally occurring substances that come directly from the earth, such as plants and minerals. During the preparation process of a homeopathic remedy, the active ingredients are turned into a solution which is then highly diluted multiple times. There are hundreds of well-known homeopathic remedies which have been researched and used for more than two centuries.
In order to find the correct homeopathic remedy for you, Dr. Judy will complete a two-hour intake assessment where you will discuss your current conditions, including all aspects of your mental, emotional, and physical health. Based on the results of the assessment, Dr. Judy will select an appropriate remedy for your symptoms and individual needs.
The length of treatment can vary from person to person.
Following treatment, patients with acute conditions, such as a cold, can expect to feel immediate relief. For more long-term conditions, the majority of patients usually notice improvement within two weeks. Some patients may experience aggravation for a few days after initiating treatment. This is the body’s way of allowing the symptoms to come to the surface before they are finally cleared from the system.
In cases of long-term illness, suppression of symptoms has often occurred prior to treatment, whether through the use of pharmaceutical drugs or by choosing to ignore our emotions. If this is the case, a return of old symptoms can momentarily be seen as part of the healing process.
FAQS
Is homeopathy regulated?
U.S. Congress passed a law in 1938 that homeopathic remedies are to be regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) like nonprescription, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. Homeopathic medicines may be purchased without a doctor’s prescription. Homeopathic remedies do not have to undergo clinical trials, unlike conventional prescription drugs and new OTC drugs. Homeopathic medicines must meet legal standards for strength, quality, purity, and packaging. In 1988, the FDA issued guidelines that all homeopathic medicines should be listed with the medical problems they are designed to treat on the label. The FDA also requires the label to list ingredients, dilutions, and instructions for safe use.

When a licensed healthcare professional, such as an MD or DO, who also practices homeopathy provides the service, insurance companies are more likely to cover homeopathy.
What is homeopathy medicine made of?
Homeopathic medicines contain natural substances derived from plants, minerals, and animal substances in very small amounts. These substances are known for their pharmacological or biological actions.
